Saturdays Premier Round Up (6th April)

Premier League round-up: :news:
Burnley beat Bournemouth, Palace win at Newcastle and Leicester up to seventh (April 06, 2019)

Burnley and Crystal Palace both eased their relegation worries with wins at Bournemouth and Newcastle while Leicester beat Huddersfield to go seventh.

Bournemouth 1-3 Burnley
Huddersfield Town 1-3 Leicester
Newcastle United 0-1 Crystal Palace

Vital victory for Clarets

Ashley Barnes scored at both ends as the Clarets secured what could be the win that eases all their relegation worries as they came from behind to grab a fine win at the Vitality Stadium.

Barnes put through his own net after just four minutes, but Sean Dyche's side hit back strongly and turned things around with two goals in just over two minutes - firstly from Chris Wood heading in Ashley Westwood's cross.

Just 139 second later, Westwood went from provider to scorer as he took advantage of a poor clearance to fire beyond Asmir Begovic.

Begovic was at fault for the decisive Burnley goal as he fluffed a cross straight to Chris Wood who set-up Barnes to score at the right end to secure back-to-back wins for Burnley that takes them eight points clear Cardiff in that final relegation place and looking like they've done enough to survive.

Palace pinch three points

Luka Milivojevic's 10th successful penalty of the season gave Crystal Palace a late 1-0 win at Newcastle that saw the Eagles soar up into 12th in the Premier League.

Both sides had goals disallowed in a tight contest - the hosts had the ball in the net but Salomon Rondon's effort was ruled out for offside, as was a James Tomkins header as James McArthur tried to play the ball while stood in an offside position.

The breakthrough came nine minutes from the end when Wilfried Zaha was brought down by DeAndre Yedlin, and the deadly Milivojevic converted from the spot for the tenth time this season.

The win all-but secures the Eagles' safety as they move on to 39 points but more importantly puts them 11 ahead of Cardiff, while for Newcastle they're still looking over their shoulders with the Bluebirds just seven behind them with a game in hand.

Foxes too good for Terriers

Brendan Rodgers' Leicester moved up into seventh in the table with a fourth straight win coming courtesy of a 4-1 win over relegated Huddersfield, with Jamie Vardy bagging another two goals.

Youri Tielemans continued his fine recent form with his second goal for the Foxes breaking the deadlock before Vardy doubled the lead when he tapped in from close range.

Soyuncu then brought down Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant in the penalty area in the 52nd minute for their first spot-kick of the season, which Aaron Mooy converted to halve the deficit.

James Maddison curled in a fine free-kick from 25 yards as Leicester went 3-1 ahead with 10 minutes remaining and Vardy bagged his 15th goal of the season from the penalty spot to put Leicester 4-1 up.
