Default Cheltenham & Galway for Supreme Vinnie

Denise O'shea Has Big Plans For Vinnie - (Wed 25th Jan 2017)

Denise O'Shea has big plans for her stable star Supreme Vinnie, with possible trips to Cheltenham and Galway on the horizon.

A three-time winner over hurdles last year, the son of Vinnie Roe was last seen finishing down the field in a Listed contest at Cheltenham in November.

O'Shea feels the ground did not suit her charge on that occasion, and she now has a return trip to the Cotswolds in mind for the eight-year-old gelding, with a tilt at the Galway Plate the long-term plan.

"He is in great form. He has come back in big and strong - he's been back in about three weeks now. It's a pity the ground turned up soft on his last run at Cheltenham.

"In my opinion it was soft to heavy, it didn't stop raining on the Friday and the Saturday and he just won't go on that type of ground.

"He might go back to Cheltenham in March for the Martin Pipe race, but it will depend on the ground. It's always a track that I thought he'd like so we are toying with the idea at the moment.

"If the ground stays soft in the next two or three weeks, we might give him a run on the Flat at Dundalk.

"He will be going over fences this year, with his long-term plan being the Galway Plate. We'd love to sneak him into that race, maybe off a bottom weight.

"He has been schooling away and jumping extremely well."
