Championship Talk ...........
Im putting this section in for all our members who support teams that play in the championship......So post all your messages, news etc under this thread.
This way we can all follow whats happening to everyones teams and of course share a little banter throughout the season... |
thanks Tony another thread shark boy can spiel he's nonsense about the bums (sorry rams) :brains:
|
"can spiel he's nonsense"???
Is this the juvenile/illiterate thread? AKA the bonehead Brummie thread? If there are any Championship team supporters around who can converse in adult talk id be happy to do battle...im pretty confident about my Rams being in the mix for promotion this season, especially if our wonderkid Giles Barnes can get back to full fitness soon. Bally can keep kissing his picture of Andy Gray on his bedroom wall and reading his Peter & Jane books....i see Derby doing battle with Birmingham, QPR and Charlton for the top two, with Reading and Sheff U making up the play off places. |
Ipswich
Good luck all |

Well..............
Even though im not a supporter of any team in the championship im really looking forward to the start of the season now we have a little banter going...
Back in the late 70s when i was a wee lad i used to have a mate who lived in Nottingham and followed Forest everywhere. I used to go to stay at his a couple of weekends a month and also followed Forest. Luckily for me it was just before they were promoted to DIV one and for the next six seasons i travelled all around europe following the great Brian Clough team. Ive been to so many grounds not only in this country but also in europe and was at both European Cup finals (Munich 79 and Madrid 1980). In the end the last real Forest game i saw was the ill fated Hillsborough semi v Liverpool in 89.......after witnessing that tragic day following Forest lost its appeal for me and except for the odd game at Ipswich and Colchester i havnt followed them. But the memories of the great teams from 1978 through to the mid 80s will always be with me and some of the great nights they provided will never in my opinion return to The City Ground... So for this season i will once again follow Forest and hopefully they will do themselves justice in the Championship and of course finish above DERBY.... |
:-C:eek!::C
Outside Tony......we're having a rumble. The Red Dogs will do well to finish anywhere above mid table - last season was almost so worthwhile having to endure if it meant I could see my three most hated of teams, Red Dogs, Mangy Foxes and Dirty L**ds in Division 1, but no, those poxy disease ridden Trees managed to clamber out of where they truly belong and taint the Championship with their presence once more. Fortunately, Derby have owned the Trees over recent seasons, so its of no real concern to me and just means another 4 or 6 points in the Pride Park coffers. But woe be tide any pro Tree comments you make my friend (nearly had to use inverted commas there!) - I cannot be held responsible for my retorts....my words to Bally will seem almost loving in comparison!o:D |
Personally i dont think derby will be in the top 6.
i think you cant look much further than birmingham to be honest. As a wolves fan i think we have a decent chance of going up this year.... i dont think it will be the strongest championship quality wise so with a decent start i dont think we will be far away. |

The Red Dogs..................
Well under Megson there was only one way Forset were going and it wasnt up Megson was a very overrated player and maybe more so a manager and i think this point will be proved as i believe he will be the first manager sacked from the premier this coming season. I can see Bolton being one of the 4 or 5 clubs fighting relegation from day one.
Calderwood is a more groomed manager at lower leval and i think thats why Forset managed to gain promotion last season but...im not too sure hes good enough for the championship let alone trying to gain promotion this season. Forest will do well to finish mid table and maybe will be sucked into a relegation fight if they dont start well. A few players have left (Commons for one...and on a free?) and im not sure they have brought enough quality to be a force this season. For Forest supporters i think a mid table finish and a couple of wins over Derby and Leicester will make them feel its been a good season. Maybe with a cash injection and a few more players season 09/10 could see them pushing for promotion back to the premier but thats if it doesnt all go wrong in the coming ten months. |

They will do even better to beat Leicester, because Leicester are not in the same division (they got relegated last year Tony - now in Division 1 with dirty Leeds)B (: Typical head in the clouds Premiership team supporter....dont give a monkeys about whats going on in the real football world.....:h?: :'D:'D:'D |
Thats where your wrong.....
I have taken the cup comps into consideration....8-P
Im sure they will draw each other in the two cups..... Seriously thats how much impact Leicester have....didnt evem see them go...:h?: Anyway thats makes our season much easier as we only have to beat Derby twice.......o:D |
Whats all this "we" and "our" business?????
You carry on like this and I may have to pledge allegiance to Manure in the Prem and choose them as my team to follow for the season and bait you non stop!!!!! Just pick a neutral team...Norwich will do fine, as youre mates with Glenn Roeder...plus they have just signed a Derby old boy for the season, Arturo Lupoli, who is class.... |
Norwich................
No fun there.......and to be honest i much prefer Ipswich...
But of course if were having a championship section then i must roll back the years and follow Forset as they over the last 30 years have been the pride of the East Midlands and hopefully this season will continue to do so...8-P As for Wolves......by christmas i doubt very much if their two fans (Bally and Pboro) will even be posting on this thread....:scribe: |
Pride of the East Midlands over the last 30 years....dont make me laugh.
Notts Forest have been an embarrassment of a club since Clough left, and dont forget where Clough came from, and also dont forget which team Clough said his heart always truly belonged with....and its a team who play in white...not red. Even Stuart Pearce kissed the Derby badge when he turned out for Ted McMinn's benefit game last summer....something that gives Red Dog fans nightmares. Theres only one team in the East Midlands, there is only one team who have true Premiership potential in the East Midlands, and there is only one team have been in the Prem recently and will be in the Prem again soon from the East Midlands....and that is Burton Albion....i mean Derby County. Now im gonna ignore you like i ignore every other Red Dog, and thats treating them with a little respect, sub standard human beings that they are.... |
keep digging shark breath give it til xmas and i'll get you a treble extension ladder to get out of that crater your digging
and as for Tony forest WERE good once it all went downhill after the mighty wolves beat you in the cup when super Andy Gray scored in 1980 stick to what you know best mate .... tiddly winks is it 8-P |
Loooooool Lee
I was there mate when Needham collided with Shilton and Andy Gray scored his best ever goal...:'D:'D
I remember standing opposite the tunnel end and my mate said.." dont know we bothered to come to this...we will slaughter them "....:'D:'D Famous last words......... |
jeez
whats this guy on...how can he say that forest have been chit since clough left?
eeerrr exactly what have derby done except prove that they are not fit enough to grace the prem? as for derby being in the top 6...dont make me laugh..if it was a team for OAP's then they would have a chance. QPR will not battle for honours even with their cash, they will blow it big style. ps,im a cov fan,a realistic one,if we finish mid table and above ill be happy. |
Errrr...very easily. What have Forest achieved since Clough left them? A yoyo club for a few seasons followed by relegation to the Championship, followed by two successive seasons in Division 1, the third tier of English football, somewhere they had not been for god knows how long. A team that has averaged a different manager every season for the last 10 seasons. Yeah, thats not "chit" at all.
Derby have been in the Premiership for 6 out of the last 10 seasons - ok we were dross last year, no doubting that, but we got there against all the odds and it was not that long ago we had two successive top 12 finishes in the Prem, during our stay of 5 successive seasons in the top flight. If you had a clue about the current state of Derby's squad, you would know we have done nothing but get rid of the "OAP'S" you refer to, players like Darren Moore, Kenny Miller, Michael Johnson, Mo Camara, and getting rid of dross like Bucktooth Earnshaw and Craig Fagan, and getting in early to mid 20 something players like Paul Connolly, Paul Green, Ruben Zadkovich, Liam Dickinson and Steve Davies, as well as bringing in established Championship class players like Albrechtsen, Ellington and Hulse. We have also retained the young potential stars we had within our squad - Dean Leacock, Stephen Pearson and of course Giles Barnes. We even took the Red Dogs best player in Kris Commons, as by his own words "Derby match his ambitions - Forest couldnt". If you wanna slate my team, at least get your facts right before you try...all you have actually done is prove Bally's comments right, about the abject lack of intelligence of people of the Coventry area.....well done :clap::clap: |
Oh Dear............... i can see this all ending in tears....and a ball hasnt been kicked yet.. :-)
|
Craig Fagan..
Was that the same player who played for Colchester?
I think its a bad move getting rid of Earnshaw who even though not quite good enough for the prem is a good striker at championship level and has proved this with Cardiff and Norwich. I think Wolves have made a huge mistake getting rid of Eastwood who i also think will score plenty in the championship this season. As for Chris Commons i find this a strange one as it was only a couple of seasons ago he was being touted as a premiership player. I think that maybe hes trouble of some sort and thats why Forest unloaded. It will be interesting to see how these players perform this season... |
We got Fagan from Hull, before selling him back to them - dont know where he was before Hull though.
Earnshaw didnt have the right attitude or work ethic - I work with Baggies fans and they told me when we signed him how we will end up regretting it - I agree he will be more effective in the Champ than the Prem, but still feel our attack is better without him now we have Hulse, Ellington and Villa. Kris Commons was looked at alot by Prem teams when he was with Stoke, but became a bit of a luxury player, same with Forest it seemed - im a bit sceptical about him, and not just cause hes a Forest reject - but hes still only 24 and if his actions back up the words he's been speaking (though thats a classic trait of most footballers, talking a good game only) then he could prove a decent signing. I dont think anyone will take the Division by storm, and if any team does it will likely to be Birmingham - pound for pound the Championship is by far a better division than the Prem, if for no other reason you can be a win or two off a top 6 spot, whilst being a loss or two away from a relegation place. |
Im still laughing.....
If anyone has seen todays (Thursday) SUN newspaper (page 11) you will know why.....:clap:o:Do:Do:D
ps....sorry Sharky |
I havent seen it....and, if it has a picture of a shark on it, i dont wanna see it either!!!!!!!
Page 11 would suggest its nothing about Derby....but that is usually about where they do a shark story in full glorious colour that usually scares me rigid... (I am petrified of sharks - a serious morbid fear):'D |
I believe tony is referring to the gone before xmas managers list and i belive your shrek look a like is 3rd in line behind keegan and pardew lol
|
Looool, The exact wordings is.....
" The fat bloke from Derby "............o:Do:D
|
Really????
No chance....id be amazed if Jewell got the sack anytime before the end of the season, unless we start having a similar season in the Champ as we did in the Prem.... ah well...that is preferable to there being a pic of a shark in there anyway...8-P |
Loooool
Sharky....i think there are at least 20 other managers who are ahead of him in the managers to go betting.
Derby dont out managers that easily and as you have said they would have to have a nightmare start for him to lose his job that early.. |
Jewell gets new faces !!
Paul Jewell's summer rebuild shows no sign of relenting as he brings in two more new faces.
Latvian midfielder Andrejs Pereplotkins and Serbian striker Aleksandar Prijovic are the latest to walk through the doors at Pride Park. Pereplotkins played over an hour for the Rams during a recent pre-season friendly against FC Utrecht, impressing on the right-hand side of midfield. He has been capped five times by his country and arrives on a season-long loan deal from Skonto FC. Prijovic is a Serbian U19 international who was with Italian side Parma last season. However, he rejected a contract offer from the Serie B outfit in favour of taking up a new challenge in England. Pereplotkins has been granted international clearance but Prijovic is still waiting for his to go through ------------------------------ Rams look good to me Sharky :news: |
You know it Benny.... great post mate....I knew about the two new guys earlier today but thought id pushed my boys too much already - these coupled with the Polish international we signed recently also means serious strength in depth as well as potential development for the future.
We are a few hundred tickets short of a full Pride Park on Saturday, so just under 34,000 will be there - say what you want about Derby, but none can doubt our support(ers). 11 points last season, and we had the 12th highest average gate in the Prem, and that was only because of our capacity, which will be increased soon. |
Good luck.................
To everyones teams as we start another long season...
|

Good point for..
Forest...against a team that looked like they will be up there come May.
Thought Ernshaw looked ok and will start to score a few im sure.. Looked good at the back and fairly solid in midfield..just hope there is a bit of strength in depth on the bench as there will be injuries etc... All in all a good start.... |
right now i'm back from bonny scotland and just caught up with the football scores (no phone signal all day yesterday)
where were we oh the rams or should i say lambs (to the slaughter may i add) were continuing their dismal run of defeats yes mark i know it's only 1 game but it was a important 1 first game back in the championship and at home wolves didn't fair too much better but i'd take a draw at plymouth on opening day all the same oh and well done cov  |

The second weekend of the season
Now after the first games and a few shock results were back for week two of the championship..
How do we think our teams will get on this weekend..? Now after a good point at home last week against Reading Forest make the trip to Wales to play last seasons div one champs Swansea. Swansea started with a defeat at fancied Charlton and will be looking to get their first points of the season on Saturday. Forest had a good win in mid week and i think they will be happy with another point tomorrow... |
