Tony's World Cup Predicter

First game tonight guys and it should be a walk in the park for Brazil...

I dont see Croatia causing many problems so here are my bets...

Im starting with an imaginary 200 points (£1 point)

BRAZIL TO WIN ......3-0 @ 7/1.... 5 points.

BRAZIL TO WIN ......4-0 @ 12/1...3 points

BRAZIL TO WIN BOTH HALVES @ 2/1......15 points

BRAZIL TO SCORE A PENALTY @ 6/1....5 points

OVER 1.5 FIRST HALF GOALS @ 9/4.....10 points

38 points wagered

More tomorrow...........;)

bennythedip2 June 12th, 2014 19:54

Glk Tony ..

I'm not sure about this first game betting for any game that is ..
Usually the first round games end up low score 0 0 or 1 0 :brains:

Tony2005 June 12th, 2014 20:57

First half Goal bet landed @ 9/4 Over 1.5

That Hulk he not to incredible........:eek!:

Is he Scottish........8-P

Tony2005 June 12th, 2014 22:07

Not a great first game and Brazil got a little lucky...

They need to raise their game or they wont make the semis let alone winning the thing....

But a good start with the bets mainly thanks to the ref.....o:D

Two landed.....

BRAZIL TO SCORE A PENALTY @ 6/1....5 points

OVER 1.5 FIRST HALF GOALS @ 9/4.....10 points

So after staking 38 points we returned...

67.50 points.....So we now stand at ......

229.50 points

Tomorrow we will cover the Spain v Holland match.....:loveme:

bennythedip2 June 12th, 2014 22:49

lol well done with the bets

But if that's the standard of refereeing it's already a laughing circus :'D

Tony2005 June 13th, 2014 16:31

SPAIN V HOLLAND 8PM

This should be a decent match tonight with the two group favs ...

Spain are my pick to win the world cup and have a squad easily good enough although many think its an ageing one....:eek!:

Holland for a change go into the comp as 35/1 shots after a few years in the doldrums but they are not as bad as some think and i see this being a cagey affair..

DRAW with BOTH TEAMS SCORING @ 9/2..........8 points

SPAIN TO WIN 3-1 @ 16/1................5 points

HOLLAND TO WIN 2-1 @ 18/1............3 points

SPAIN TO SCORE PEN @ 8/1..............3 points

HOLLAND TO SCORE PEN @ 16/1........2 points

TOTAL POINTS.......21

Tony2005 June 13th, 2014 19:59

Half time report..

Bet landed.....
Quote:

SPAIN TO SCORE PEN @ 8/1..............3 points
.......8-P

I love the pen bets in big tournaments.....Refs tend to give more pens especially in the world cup....:eek!:

Spain were bossing it but poor miss by Silva and great goal by Van Persie..

1-1 at half time about right....

Tony2005 June 13th, 2014 21:14

Final score...

SPAIN 1 HOLLAND 5 ............:eek!:

My thoughts are....

Spain bossed the first half and were the better team until Van Persie scored a goal he would never score again....If i was a Man Utd fan i would be rather unhappy.... Van Persie obviously was saving himself for the world cup as he hardly played a game for United since Feb.....:eek!:

Then if you disallow the Croatia goal last night you have to disallow the Dutches second ....

The third was a clamity by the keeper as was the fourth....

David Villa was shocking for Spain as was Buscatts and Alonso and Costa...

There are five changes they need to make...

But its only the first match and Spain lost the first match in South Africa so not all is lost just yet.

I have gone back in at 12/1 for Spain as i cant see them not qualifying from the group and then its back to being anyones...

Bets landed tonight...

SPAIN TO SCORE PEN @ 8/1..............3 points

Returns.....27 points

After tonight we now stand at ...

235 points

Tomorrows match will be the BIG ONE..

England v Italy

And after tonights result maybe just maybe it could be 1966 all over again....o:D

Part-Timer June 14th, 2014 06:57

That was a worse penalty decision than Brazils :eek!:

bennythedip2 June 14th, 2014 13:49

My bets tonight

Not much on football betting but for me tonight
England V Italy ... 2 0 .. 2 2 .. 0 2 and Mario Barteli (first scorer) (o)<

Tony2005 June 14th, 2014 16:49

So we are only a few hours away from Englands entry into this world cup..

Expectations are not high but for once that could be a good thing.

I think we might just go a bit further in this then many think and tonight is a good starting point to show the world our intentions.

I hope Wroy player Stirling but i feel it will be Welbeck who in my opinion hasnt got the pace that Stirling has to shake defenders and that might be a down side for us if this happens.

But Italy are no real shakes and in a tight match i think we can sneak it ..

Tonights Bets.

ENGLAND TO WIN 2-0 @ 11/1.....4 points

ENGLAND TO WIN 3-1 @ 28/1 ....3 points.

FIRST GOALSCORER.....GARY CAHILL @ 40/1.....1 point

CAHILL TO SCORE AT ANY TIME @ 20/1.....1 point

ENGLAND TO SCORE IN BOTH HALVES.......8 points @ 9/2

RED CARD IN MATCH @ 3/1..........8 points

TOTAL POINTS WAGERED.....25

Tony2005 June 15th, 2014 00:08

ENGLAND 1 ITALY 2

Easy to sum this up.....

NO PLAN B.....:eek!:

We have taken too many of the same type of player.

I actually thought we didnt play that bad but just didnt have a focal man in the centre and you just cant walk the ball into the net against seasoned defences.

An Andy Carroll or a Peter Crouch for the last 20 mins could have given us at least a draw.

A Jermaine Defoe who is a poacher would have been a better take then Lambert.

The other thing is ....Why cant they bring off Rooney....:h?:

He was one of our worst players and still they leave him on...

I wouldnt have brought off Henderson i would have taken Gerrard off as i thought he had NO impact going forwards.

Baines cant defend and was poor going forward and Johnson was another out of position a lot and no impact going forward..infact was gettting to close to Stirling in the second half.

Thought Stirling played well but was left too wide in the second half and Sturridge and Wellbeck only really had a decent first 30 mins before the game passed them by.

Barclay and Wiltshire have to play a bigger part in the next two games

On that performance we cant win the world cup but maybe we can still make the knockout stages but changes will have to be made.

All bets tonight LOST....:'D

Now stands at ....210 points

Tomorrow we look at the 5pm game

SWITZERLAND V ECUADOR

Part-Timer June 15th, 2014 00:56

All I will say is Rooney, Wellbeck and Baines are there because of who they play for and the press. Welbeck shouldn't be in the squad, Rooney shouldn't currently be on the pitch. As for Baines, whoever thinks he's a better fullback than Cole shouldn't even be allowed to pass comment on any football match, let alone an International one. :gn:

TheCaptain June 15th, 2014 09:07

I like the vanishing cream these referees are using.....

In the second half it made most of the England players.... Disappear!

Tony2005 June 15th, 2014 13:07

Today looks on paper to be the worst of the first three days fixtures but what i find is some of the lesser games are actually the most exciting..

So we look at the 5pm kick off

SWITZERLAND V ECUADOR

The Swiss have become a very organised team over the last few years and should be too good for Ecuador in this opening group match..

Most of the players in this match will not be household names and maybe a star or two will emurge..

Todays Bets

SWITZERLAND TO WIN @ 6/4.........12 points

SWITZERLAND TO WIN BOTH HALVES @ 7/1.......3 points

SWITZERLAND TO SCORE PEN @ 8/1........3 points

SWITZERLAND TO MISS A PEN @ 16/1.....2 points

Total wagered 20 points

Tony2005 June 15th, 2014 18:01

SWITZERLAND 2 ECUADOR 1

Sometime you get lucky and we did here with the Swiss scoring in the 93rd min....:eek!:

Both teams looked to have settled for a draw until a last ditch tackle on the edge of the Swiss box allowed the Swiss to break and a good advantage by the ref for a foul on the Swiss player Berhami in midfield allowed them to continue forward and when the cross came in the sub unmarked on the front post did the rest....

Both teams lacked any cutting edge and i doubt the team having to player either of these in the knockout rounds will loose sleep.

So far 35 goals scored compared to just 15 at this stage in the last world cup.

OVER 2.5 Goal trebles pay well for small steaks.

Tony2005 June 15th, 2014 18:19

In the next match FRANCE V HORRENDUS

I think FRANCE TO WIN BOTH HALVES @ 7/4 is way overpriced...

Also FRANCE TO SCORE A PEN @ 5/1

No points wagered but just my thoughts....:news:

FRANCE V HORRENDUS

FRANCE TO WIN BOTH HALVES @ 7/4 is way overpriced...

Also FRANCE TO SCORE A PEN @ 5/1

Both bets landed here .....

This was a game where Horrendus could have finished with 7 men in a brusing encounter.

The French looked quite good but it was against the poorest team we have seen so far.....:news:

Tony2005 June 15th, 2014 21:06

GERMANY V PORTUGAL 5PM

The Germans always seem to find a way to go far in the competition regardless of how they have been playing in matches leading up to this.

I think they will make the semi's at worst but may have a tight first game here.

Portugal really rely on Ronaldo to get their goals and if he isnt firing then they might struggle to make the 1/4 finals.

We havnt had a draw yet but this could be the first...

For those who are following the bets this game was in profit early after a German penalty was Dispatched by Muller to land two bets...

And after his hatrick i hope you were all on as advised in the world cup thread @ 28/1 to be top scorer (5/2 now).........:eek!:

With Portugal down to 10 men at 2-0 it was a stroll for the Germans who look like a team thats going deep in this comp.....

Bets will be posted around 5pm tomorrow night.

Tony2005 June 17th, 2014 17:49

BRAZIL V MEXICO 8PM

I thought the Brazilians were a little disappointing in their opening game and the Mexicans a little unlucky not to have had two goals allowed that should have been.

Brazil should be too good for Mexico but i see a decent match.

I can see Mexico scoring against a poorish defence but i still think the fire power the Brazilians have will knock in a couple at least.

I can also see a rough game here with maybe a red card or two...

TONIGHTS BETS.

TOTAL POINTS STAKED ...21

Tony2005 June 17th, 2014 21:06

BRAZIL 0 MEXICO 0

Well i think i can say that tonight we didnt see the winners of this world cup ....:eek!:

This Brazil team is vastly over rated and as for their striker FRED i think his other name must be FLINTSTONE as i dont think i have ever seen a Brazilian striker with less pace and ability.

The rest just seem to think they are so good they dont have to do much.

Or the other theory is that they settled for a point knowing that if they win the group its likely they will play the Spanish in the next round and im sure they would want to avoid them at all cost as SPAIN will not play as bad again in this world cup as they did the other night.

Mexico really could have nicked it but they are fairly poor too and are a team no body would loose any sleep over if playing them in the knock out rounds.

SPAIN V CHILE 8PM

After the shock thrashing of the champions by the Dutch on Friday night the Spanish look to bounce back with a impressive performance and victory over Chile who also were not that impressive against the Aussies.

I cant see Spain loosing this match..............:eek!:

good luck with this Tony , but aside from the fact that spain are always prone to start slow , they were effectively beaten by 2 dutch players ( robben and van purse strings ) ...the 6/1 about chile for the win are more appealing :scribe:

Tony2005 June 18th, 2014 19:54

For the first time i have to do a half time report....

Spain have been woeful (again)

But i still think when David Villa and Costa come on things will change....8-P

The clown they have in goal cost them 3 goals against the dutch and as for trying to punch the ball for the second...words fail me...They have two better goal keepers on the bench

Alonso has had the worst 45 mins i have seen from any player in a long time....Why do they keep picking him as hes never really been that good.

Once Iniesta takes the lead shot out of his boots he might get forward quicker...

As for Busquets......is he playing ?

I really dont see a way back for Spain who look like a team that doesnt want to play together anymore...

50/1 to win the world cup ....:eek!:

Oh go on then just another fiver........o:D

Tony2005 June 18th, 2014 21:13

SPAIN 0 CHILE 2

There are a few words that can describe Spains performance in this world cup

But the one i want to use is....disinterested......:eek!:

From the time Van Persie equalised in the first game they just seemed to loose interest in the whole thing.

I dont buy into this "too old" thing as tonight only two of the starting eleven were over 30 ...

There were plenty of players you could blame but for me the worst player in the two games was David Villa who contributed nothing and in truth looked way out of his depth.

The Spainish midfield was weak and poor in both games and they had a lot of decent players on the bench that never got a look in.

I doubt we will be seeing Spain lift a major trophy for many years now and for anyone over 50 they may never see it...

Chile showed a passion to play for the shirt and deserved their win but we all know they wont go a lot further once they play a country thats there to win.

I watched Australia who are also out of that group but they gave it everything they had and its a shame they still went out the same time as Spain.

I can see at least 7 changes in Spains last game against Australia and maybe we will see more passion when its all too late.

Costa was as bad as i have ever seen a striker play in the world cup and it was only his performance that saved Torres from getting that vote.

I fear for Chelsea next season if they do pay 30 odd million for him....we are better off keeping BA at least he can score goals and looks like he wants to ....Costa just looked like a bloke who didnt fancy it.

Anyway onto tonights bets.......:'D

All lost ..........:eek!:

PS

I think FRANCE could be the dark horses now....14/1 looks big .....o:D

Part-Timer June 18th, 2014 22:01

Ineista and Alonso are long past it. Cassilas isn't even Madrids goalkeeper. Their Barcelona tip tap style hasn't worked for 18 months. The refs now know that just because they fall over it might not be a foul. They've had small quick men running into people getting players booked for standing still, found out, move on.

Tony2005 June 19th, 2014 17:42

ENGLAND V URUGUAY....8PM

Although beaten on Saturday night by the Italians for once England lost with pride and hopefully tonight they can carry that into the game with fancied Uruguay.

I doubt there will be any changes in the starting line up for England but a few will have to up their game for us to win.....

Uruguay have Suarez back and he will always be a threat not only for scoring goals but also for diving about.....

I can see England winning this as they have a decent record in these sorts of competitions in their second match.

Stirling and Sturridge look our main chances of goals against a defence that doesnt like players running at it.

Fingers crossed we can take three points into our last match.

ENGLAND 1 URUGUAY 2

Well im not going over old ground but once again we just cant bring off Gerrard who not only cost Liverpool the league but has now cost us any chance of making the knock out stages.

I thought Henderson played well in midfield and at least he was getting forward to support....but no they had to take him off again.

Stirling never got going tonight a bit like what happened in the second half against the Italians where when he was out wide right Johnson kept getting in the way

Then we look at the bench and on come....Lalana and Lambert....14 months ago they wouldnt have got into the Scotland team let alone one thats playing at the world cup...

NO PLAN B .............(o)<

What every good international team have is a STRIKER who can score goals.....Tonight it was Suarez on Saturday it was Ballotelli....

We have NO ONE.......Sturridge.....Welback and Rooney are NOT strikers.

The only time we attacked the box was when we scored and with no one in the middle Baines cant cross from the by line ..he had to keep cutting in and thats easy to defend.

Should have taken Defoe or Crouch for a plan B.

Until we find a out and out goalscorer it doesnt matter how good our kids are....

We got back into it and then went to sleep thinking 1-1 would be a good result when really we should have pushed on for the winner.

Anyway if results go our way we might still make it through but winning Saturdays lottery is about the same odds.

SWITZERLAND V FRANCE 8PM

Part-Timer June 19th, 2014 21:42

I think the Gerrard comment is a bit harsh, almost like saying Chelsea would have beaten Man U in Moscow if it hadn't been for JT.

As long as England continue to change their team to allow Rooney to do as he wants we will never win anything. For the millionth time he isn't anywhere near world class. He's as good at football as the old prostitutes he shags are at sex (o)<

bennythedip2 June 19th, 2014 22:17

It was never going to happen in Brazil ..
You had to know before the event that Roy is a yes man for the FA

So with NO Ashley Cole, NO John Terry, and above all NO Harry, it was always going to be a No No before the event :-C

And PT is right... Rooney is not good enough, neither is Gerrard (past it) .. Roy was cluching at straws with those two :'D

Onto tonights match and the two fancied teams from the group meet after both winning their opening match.

I was disappointed with the Swiss in their first game and only managed a late winner to take the points.

France were a lot better then we all thought they would be and looked a team that could well win this .

I think tonights game will be tight with the Swiss having a decent defence but no real fire power up front.

France will win but not by much.

SWITZERLAND 2 FRANCE 5

Tight it wasnt.....:eek!:

Entertaining it was.......;)

Really the French should have had a few more ....A missed penalty and a 6th goal disallowed when the ref had blown for full time says it all.

The French dominated from the start and the Swiss who have conceded only 2 goals in eight previous world cup matches conceded two in 13 seconds.

The French never turned up in the last world cup but they have here and with a very decent mix of young and more experienced players i think they could even go on to win it and the 16/1 on offer earlier will have long gone.

Very organised and workman like with decent strikers and although the Swiss scored two at the end the match was over long before.
