West Ham's Andy Carroll and Sam Allardyce 'scammed by Christmas hamper fraudster'
The fraudster allegedly took £35k from players at the Premier League club and Championship side Norwich City West Ham manager Sam Allardyce and striker Andy Carroll have allegedly been stung in a £35,000 Christmas hamper scam. A fraudster apparently arrived at the club’s training ground promising cut-price Fortnum & Mason hampers and Harrods champers. The pair paid £11,000 but the conman did not deliver to them, according to The Sun. The crook then apparently performed the same swindle at Championship team Norwich City — and conned players out of £5,000. A source said: “He was offering top quality champagnes and hampers from Harrods and Fortnum & Mason at ridiculously cheap prices. “Andy Carroll thought he was getting a great deal. Apparently he handed over £8,000. “The conman took more than £30,000 from players and staff." The source added that Norwich players were also targeted at their training ground in the run-up to Christmas. West Ham officials reported the fraud to police on Christmas Eve after the man struck at the club’s training ground in Chadwell Heath, Essex, on December 12. :eek!: Just goes to show that even players and managers on thousands a week still like to pick up a bargain if they can......o:D :news: |
So a stranger walks in offering cheap, knocked off, hampers and these muppets paid upfront :eek!: A fool and his money is soon parted.
