Ladbrokes Announces Move to Microgaming Network as Poker Net Revenue Falls £1 Million

Ladbrokes Plc today(Thursday) announced it had signed an agreement with the Microgaming Prima network that will see LadbrokesPoker join the network in 2009, which will allow some of its players to compete against U.S.-based players.

The company also announced net poker revenue fell 6.4 percent to £14.7 million in the first six months of 2008 from £15.7 million in the first half of 2007.

The fall came as a result of “the continuing highly competitive environment affecting both player numbers and yield,” said the company.

Active customers fell by 4.6 percent to104,000, and yield per unique active fell 2.1 percent to £141.

Ladbrokes said of the move to the new network from which it already licenses its software, “…we have signed an agreement to merge our player liquidity with the Microgaming Prima network for certain tables from the beginning of 2009. We expect improved liquidity, together with further enhancements to the software and website to positively impact player numbers and yield. Importantly, this development ensures no disturbance for the customer but much higher network liquidity.”
