Friday's latest news, rumours & market moves including Romelu Lukaku's move to Manchester United
![]() 1150: "There is no pain limit - even in the three-digit (£100m) range." That's Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick regarding Liverpool's pursuit of Naby Keita. Clearly, he hasn't been given the Billions treatment by Mike 'Wags' Wagner. Everybody has a price, Mr Rangnick. 1125: An update on Lukaku: he's decided to wait in California rather than come home. United are due out there on Sunday, you see. Evidently he's a fan of face-to-face negotiation. I hope he's taking in 18 at Pebble Beach, 18 at Monterey Peninsula, 18 at Spyglass, a drive down 17-mile, erm, drive, while he waits. 0940: It's fair to say there's a few will-he-wont-he situations around the transfer markets, with the futures of Riyad Mahrez, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Kyle Walker and Jack Wilshere amongst those hanging in the balance. Mahrez’s proposed move to Arsenal is considered the most likely, but reports this morning are suggesting that the Gunners are refusing to meet Leicester’s £50m price tag. No move is still a 4/1 offering. Sigurdsson is the same price to stay at Swansea but his alternative destination is less clear, with 4/7 favourites Everton supposedly facing competition from 4/1 shots Tottenham (as a Spurs fan that makes zero sense, but we did sign Moussa Sissoko for £30m…). Walker is the one player expected to leave Wembley (that sounds weird doesn’t it) but has drifted out from as short as 1/20 to 4/11 to join Manchester City, with Dani Alves shorter odds to arrive at the Etihad. Wilshere’s seemingly available services have ignited less interest, with West Ham remaining favourites at 4/6 while a humbling move to Huddersfield is a 12/1. That would be amusing. 0855: Very much the calm before the storm this morning as we await further news on Lukaku. For now, some notable betting news. Alexis Sanchez is marginally more likely to stay than go according to Sky Bet, who go 10/11 he remains an Arsenal player, whereas Lukaku is 25/1 to stay at Everton with United 1/8 to get their man. That brings the question of what happens to Alvaro Morata and he's 9/4 to join Chelsea, with United 11/4, and 'stay put' into 8/11. Giroud, mentioned earlier, is 5/4 for Everton and 11/4 to stay at Arsenal and that just about rounds up the headlines for now. 0750: Welcome to the final day of the week in The Transfer Bulletin. Paper Talk is here and I think we all fully expected to see speculation about an angry Antonio Conte's future at Chelsea. ![]() That's because Romelu Lukaku looks set to join Manchester United. Still more than enough time for a twist in that transfer story mind you and whatever happens, we'll cover it right here. Oh and if the Evening Standard are to be believed, rather than battle for Lukaku, Chelsea are going to sign Fernando Llorente. Sure to make Conte feel a whole lot better. What else? Well, Rylan (Olivier Giroud) could be on the way out of Arsenal despite scoring lots of goals under much derision. Marseille, Everton, Lyon, West Ham? Who knows. And the Beeb reckon Leicester are about to spend £25m on Kelechi Ineanacho in case you were still unsure as to the bonkers levels 2017 has reached. ![]()
