Default Not just because he is my brother

But last night’s performance from strummer9 in the leocop F/L championship was the most dominant I have ever seen by anyone. His aggression, positional play and table banter were out of this world, it was obvious even with 60 players left who was going to win.

I may have to ring him for some lessons.

I am sure he will post some details on www.strummer9.com soon

Default Gutted....

i missed that Herbie...would have been great viewing

But obviously a superb performance in what is one of the more specialist poker formats....

On the downside...im sure my performance in the talksport forum game i won was on par with that dominence....

I remember playing at quite a few tables your brother was on in the old Laddies days and im not alone in saying (sure Benny will agree) he was one of the best players ever to play on Ladbrokes....

Default "made up for him"

Yes i remember him when we were in Barcelona together in the EPT great guy and fully deserves a result. I had to laugh, he had some kind of muscle dish for dinner in a beach restaurant in the early evening.... his table suffered that night (pooooh) but he eventually had to retire to the loo

Great to see he has had a nice win, if you speak to him 'herbie', tell him i wish him well and glk to him

Default Here is how it all went.....

Richard 'Strummer9' Herbert LEOCOP FL Champion - Article Updated
Its not often a tournament is dominated by one player but on Friday night in the $250 LEOCOP FL championships that's what happened. Richard "strummer9" Herbert long term badbeat trader and full time mentor turned around a baron spell at the tables with a performance that could only be described as dominate! After a slow patient start that was afforded in these well structured LEOCOP events strummer stepped up his game and went on a rampage. With 30 players left the most aggressive player was strummer as others looked to hang on for a cash place while strummer pushed on to get the chips required to win the title.

Strummer quotes "With 30 left I'd gotten myself into a comfortable position stack wise and was more than happy that the tables seemed to have tightened up, no better time for a big stack to get aggressive than when the money is in sight".

The final table was reached but not with the stack strummer had hoped for having suffered several bad beats including two runner, runner beats which left him closer to the average stack rather than chip lead. Strummer tells: "It was all going very well, I'd taken a good chip lead of about 20k at the top of the leaderboard and had 20% of the chips in play, then the inevitable suck outs you get in this game kicked in and set me back a little"!

But once the final table started, strummer again came out the most aggressive player taking advantage of the others players as they sat back looking to step up the pay levels. Strummer said: "I started the final table with about 45k with the chipleader on around 120k, but it was pretty obvious everyone was hanging around for the money rather than trying to win it, so I hit the raise button."

By the time the field was down to 3 strummer had stamped his name on the game and raised and re raised his opponents into submission, turning a 1 to 3 chip deficit around and claiming his second Ladbrokes European Online Championship Of Poker title and the near $12,000 first prize.

We spoke to Strummer on completion of the tournament and this is what he had to say:

"I was pretty confident from very early on in this tournament and as the players fell my confidence just grew and grew. When we got down to 5 or 6 players no one wanted to play a pot with me, and when they did I had the goods, it was a great feeling and an even greater feeling to once again be a LEOCOP winner"

Strummer won the Ladbrokes LEOCOP Fixed Limit event in 2006!

Update from Article Dated 01 NOV 2008
