Default Sundays |Review Premier League

Last Updated: September 20 2015

A review of Sunday's action in the Barclays Premier League.

Anthony Martial continued his dream start to life at Manchester United as he scored twice in the 3-2 victory at Southampton.

Last year it was Robin van Persie who scored twice in a narrow win for Louis van Gaal's side at St Mary's but now United supporters have a new hero as their £36million deadline-day signing continued his impressive start to life in the Premier League.

Graziano Pelle scored the first and last goals of the game but Martial levelled before the break and benefited from a lapse in concentration from Maya Yoshida to put United in front early after the break, with Juan Mata also on the scoresheet in the victory.

David De Gea, so nearly a late departure in the transfer window, also shone for United, with one save from Jose Fonte in particular key to the win.

Liverpool striker Danny Ings eclipsed the much-anticipated return of Daniel Sturridge by coming off the bench to score but it was not enough for victory as the Reds drew 1-1 against Norwich.

The half-time substitute needed just three minutes to coolly slot home his first goal for the club in front of the Kop.

However, when Simon Mignolet flapped at a corner Russell Martin flicked home to earn Norwich a point.

It was a familiar story of not being able to hold onto a lead - a much-changed side did exactly the same in the Europa League against Bordeaux in midweek - and while goals are still at a premium it is proving costly.

After seven points from their opening three matches Liverpool have taken one from the last three and are 13th in the table, seven adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Tottenham earned their first home win of the Premier League season with a convincing 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Endearing himself to the fans on his home league debut, Son Heung-min, signed from Bayer Leverkusen towards the end of the summer transfer window for a reported fee of £22million, scored the 68th-minute winning goal that his fine performance deserved.

Palace had not dropped a point away from home before Sunday's game, and hit the post either side of half-time, first through Yohan Cabaye and then Bakary Sako, whose fierce shot was fantastically clipped onto the woodwork by Hugo Lloris.

The result leaves Spurs level on points with Palace, with nine points gained from their opening six games.
