Jurgen Klinsmann's USA beat the Holland
Holland defeated by United States - - (June 5 2015)
Holland threw away a two-goal lead to succumb to a dramatic 4-3 friendly defeat to Jurgen Klinsmann's United States team in Amsterdam. The World Cup semi-finalists had built on a Klaas-Jan Huntelaar brace to go 3-1 up through Memphis Depay's 53rd-minute goal. But the visitors, who had opened their account with a Gyasi Zardes goal in the 33rd minute, slashed the deficit in half when John Brooks struck on 71 minutes and substitute Luuk de Jong's late own goal levelled the match before Bobby Wood grabbed a shock winner from the bench in stoppage time. Eager to avoid a first ever loss to the United States while preparing for next week's Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia, Guus Hiddink's men pushed hard for an opener and Huntelaar found it in the 27th minute when heading home Depay's cross. Zardes responded six minutes later by converting a Fabian Johnson assist. Huntelaar re-established Holland's advantage three minutes after the break by connecting with Gregory van der Wiel's ball in from the right and Manchester United-bound winger Depay embellished it after Brad Guzan could only punch Georginio Wijnaldum's effort into his path. Brooks' second international goal sent nerves jangling among the Oranje and the Amsterdam Arena was silenced when De Jong sliced Daniel Williams' attempt past goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen to level things up in the 89th minute. All that was left was for Erzgebirge Aue striker Wood to drill the ball into the Dutch net 20 seconds into time added on, sealing an historic victory.
