Dallas clear after Galaxy loss (July 26 2015)
A review of Saturday's MLS action as as Steven Gerrard and the LA Galaxy suffered defeat. FC Dallas moved four points clear in Major League Soccer's Western Conference as Steven Gerrard and the LA Galaxy suffered defeat. The Houston Dynamo beat the Galaxy 3-0 with Will Bruin scoring in the ninth minute, Brad Davis adding a second in the 27th minute and Leonel Miranda finishing it off two minutes from full time. That allowed Dallas to go clear with a 4-1 win over the Portland Timbers - their fifth straight win. Michael Barrios bagged a brace before Kellyn Acosta and Maura Diaz added further strikes in the second half. Portland got a late goal back through Fanendo Adi's stoppage-time penalty. The Columbus Crew blew the chance to close the gap on DC United in the East as they squandered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Toronto FC. The Crew were cruising after Ethan Finlay's 47th minute strike added to first-half goals from Kei Kamara and Tony Tchani, but Sebastian Giovinco and Collen Warner struck in the space of five minutes to put a scare into the hosts, and Jozy Altidore then snatched a point with an 89th minute penalty after being fouled by Waylon Francis. Laurent Ciman's 88th minute goal gave the Montreal Impact a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders to move them into the play-off spots in the East, and they are four points behind New England after the Revolution were held to a 2-2 draw by the Chicago Fire. Lee Nguyen put New England ahead in the 28th minute, but Shaun Maloney's free-kick on the stroke of half-time levelled it and Chicago led through Razvan Cocis in the 75th minute, only seconds before Kelyn Rowe levelled it up for a second time.
