It could be Chelsea for David Moyes
Where next for Moyes (November 10 2015)
David Moyes has been left to contemplate his next move yet again after being sacked for the second time in just over 18 months, with an unremarkable spell at Real Sociedad brought to an end on Monday. The curtain effectively fell on the Scotsman's reign with Friday night's 2-0 defeat to Las Palmas, with only his delayed flight back from Manchester extending his stay to a day shy of a year. Moyes led the club clear of relegation to a 12th-place finish last season but leaves them only outside of the drop-zone courtesy of goal difference, in almost exactly the same position as which he found them, with club president Jokin Aperribay finally losing faith in the 52-year-old delivering his lofty ambitions. We look at Moyes' potential options as he looks to rebuild his reputation… Swansea (4/1) Is Garry Monk set to pay the price for Swansea's run of just one win in eight? While the odds suggest so, with the 36-year-old currently odds-on favourite in Sky Bet's next manager to go market, nothing has come out of the Liberty Stadium to suggest he is under pressure. If the job were to become available then it would seem an ideal fit for the Scot, who predominantly over-performed as Everton manager before taking the ill-fated Manchester United job. Essentially, Swansea's favouritism in the market represents an expectation that a return to the Premier League will be most likely, but it remains to be seen which opportunity will present itself to Moyes. Fulham (7/1) The Cottagers have a talented squad in the Sky Bet Championship and could be an attractive route back into English football for Moyes. The job is up for grabs after the sacking of Kit Symons and Moyes' experience and nous could be just what ambitious owner Shahid Khan is after for a side he wants to establish back in the top flight. Given the aforementioned circumstances, Craven Cottage looks a tempting proposition for most out-of-work bosses, but it is Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink that currently commands favouritism in the market. Celtic (8/1) Ronny Deila is the current incumbent at the top job north of the border but the club demands more than beating their domestic rivals on an annual basis, so could Moyes be the man to bring them some glory on the European stage? His Everton side a decade ago were a questionable refereeing decision away from making the group stages of the Champions League on a shoestring budget and the Parkhead role could give Moyes a project to sink his teeth into, while out of the direct glare of the Premier League. Any MLS club (10/1) MLS has lured some of the Premier League's top players over recent years - could Moyes be set to join them? The appeal is certainly there for some, switching the intense attention of the media which has relentlessly questioned his credentials since he left Everton for the sunshine of California or Florida. There should also be openings in the near future with the MLS campaign approaching its climax. However, at 52, is Moyes really looking for an escape route? It seems uncharacteristic for a man who has never turned down a challenge to take what would appear to be an easy option. Leeds (10/1) It might seem absurd to hold Leeds high up in the market with new manager Steve Evans making it back-to-back wins with Saturday's 3-0 victory over Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield. However, Massimo Cellino's record at Elland Road means nothing can be ruled out, with Evans becoming the club's sixth manager in 18 months following Uwe Rosler's sacking. Certainly not in the 'easy option' category. Other options Could Moyes be handed another crack at managing Manchester United with Louis van Gaal sticking by his decision to leave the club at the end of next season? The odds suggest not at 100/1. Newcastle is considered a more likely option at 10/1 as Steve McClaren still has critics to silence after Saturday's unconvincing win at Bournemouth. Like Fulham, QPR are thought to be looking for a new manager with interim boss Neil Warnock 7/2 to take the post on a permanent basis but that option is considered a 14/1 chance. Chelsea are in the market at 25/1 as Jose Mourinho continues to endure a nightmare campaign, while he is 33/1 to return to Everton or Preston and the same price to manage Scotland next.
