Manchester City 2-1 West Ham:
David Silva nets winner as Pep Guardiola's men claim third late victory in a week (December 03 2017)

Match report: Man City 2-1 West Ham

Premier League leaders Manchester City scored a late winner for the third time in eight days as they defeated West Ham 2-1.

After Raheem Sterling had stepped up to the plate with winners against Huddersfield and Southampton, this time it was left to David Silva to grab the goal which sunk a defiant West Ham.

The Hammers, 22/1 for the win at the start of play, took the lead just before the break when Angelo Ogbonna headed home - he had been 100/1 pre-match to open the scoring.

However, Nicolas Otamendi poked in Gabriel Jesus' low cross via Declan Rice's leg shortly after the interval, a goal which prompted a period of prolonged City dominance.

West Ham keeper Adrian, in for the ineligible Joe Hart who is on loan from City, denied them on several occasions - and Michail Antonio might have put the visitors back in front on the break only for a good save from Ederson - but Silva eventually broke down the Hammers' defence by stretching out his boot to convert Kevin de Bruyne's ball into the box on 83 minutes.

There was still time for Diafra Sakho to fire a 90th-minute chance just wide but the hosts held on to post another win and re-establish their eight-point lead over neighbours United at the top of the table.

They were left unchanged at 1/8 to win the title with United, 3-1 winners at Arsenal on Saturday, offered at 10/1. The top two meet at Old Trafford next Sunday.

City are also 8/1 to go through the entire season unbeaten and equal Arsenal's 'invincible' achievement of 2003/04. Having taken 43 points from a possible 45 so far, they are 5/4 to set a new Premier League points record of 96.

Victory over West Ham was City's 20th successive win in all competitions - a club best - and a 13th in a row in the Premier League, equalling the record, also set by Arsenal (2001/02) and Chelsea (2016/17), for consecutive wins in a single season.

Against United, they will bid to equal Arsenal's overall record of 14 which was set across two seasons in 2002.

West Ham, meanwhile, remain without a win under David Moyes and are now odds-on for relegation at 10/11, in from evens. Only rock-bottom Swansea are a shorter price for the drop.

Moyes' men end the weekend second bottom and three points from safety.

Bournemouth 1-1 Southampton: (December 03 2017)

Charlie Austin's second-half goal earned Southampton a 1-1 draw at south-coast rivals Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.

Austin, an anytime scorer tip of our Ben Coley, scored from Nathan Redmond's cutback on 61 minutes to cancel out Ryan Fraser's opener for the hosts which came three minutes before the break.

Nathan Ake could have won it for the hosts with the last touch of the game but his free header from a corner sailed over the bar in stoppage time.

Virgil van Dijk had an early sight of goal but headed wide before Saints goalkeeper Fraser Forster made an excellent reaction save at the other end to deny Jermain Defoe.

Two penalty appeals, one at each end, had both sides feeling aggrieved. Sofiane Boufal's reckless sliding challenge deserved to concede a penalty but it was so mistimed that Adam Smith saw it coming and overplayed the fall. Referee Jon Moss booked him for diving.

Then at the other end, Dusan Tadic's driven shot struck the arm of Simon Francis, but the Bournemouth defender had his back turned and Moss was probably right to wave away the appeals.

It was a defensive error that prompted the opener.

Wesley Hoedt had twice turned his way out of trouble but a third risk proved one too many as Josh King nicked possession before Andrew Surman rolled left to Fraser, who stroked the ball past Fraser Forster.

Southampton took charge after the restart and they fully deserved their point when Austin converted.

The point sees both sides climb the table - Southampton rise to 11th and Bournemouth to 14th. They ended the game seven and five points respectively above the relegation zone.

Going forward, Bournemouth face Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City this month. Southampton go up against Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and United.
