Default 2009 Players championship golf...

Starts on Thursday from the world famous Sawgrass course.

All four days are live on Setanta starting Thursday at 6pm..

Im sure there will be plenty of links to this on the net too.

Now if you remember last year you will know we found the winner Sergio Garcia at 40/1........

Heres that write up....

Heres my thoughts..............

Firstly this is one of my favs as anything can happen over the last few holes so if your up there on the last day you always have a chance.

Looking at the field its very open now Tiger isnt playing. For my sort of bets i prefer Tiger in as he keeps the prices a bit tighter and good for laying later in the tournie.

Well after a study i have five against the field at Laddies prices (although i will bet with the exchanges as you could get 10 or more points over Laddies).

STUART CINK...(20/1) Has been playing some consistant golf over the last few weeks 7 top ten finishes in his last 10 starts. Not the greatest of winners but i think he could be right there come Sunday afternoon on a course that rewards consistancy ahead of flair.

SERGIO GARCIA...(40/1) Been right off his game over the last 18 months but i think hes starting to get his game together again and with the help of his girlfriends father (Greg Norman) i think his putting is beginning to get somewhere near to what it was when he was winning consistantly.

Hopefully this year we can strike again.......

Any thoughts on this can be posted on this thread......i will post my selections tomorrow.....

Been steadily coming back into form and this course will suit him so he could be a good e/w bet Benny......

Default Heres my five against the field.......

Should be a great four days golf..........Tiger woods backers should beware he hasnt finished in the top 10 here since his win in 2001 and he must be left alone this week.

Mickelson is another who has only won once on this course and this tournement usually goes to a big priced winner......

HENDRIK STENSON (50/1)...Has been a little hit or miss this year but plays this course well and is just the sort of player who could spring back to form in this.

IAN POULTER (80/1)...Although not one of my favs is playing really well at the moment and was right there last weekend until the final 5 holes.....Deserves to win something over the pond and knows how to win big after winning ate Amex a few seasons ago at Valderamma...

STEPHEN AMES (80/1)...In and out form this season but hes the man for this tournement and course having won in 2006 and finished 5th last year....as they say....."horses for courses"

STURAT APPLEBY (140/1)...is a player who should have won more times then he has but can win and should be at home on this sort of course..

DAVID TOMS (70/1)..been side lined quite a bit over the last couple of seasons but maybe hes just coming back into a little form...A prolific winner a few years ago i think he could be right up there come Sunday...

Good luck guys....

Default After round 3

A poor day for the selected players but we still have two right there in the mix.

The leader is at -11 five shots ahead of the next group of players that include Tiger Woods....

Poulter had nothing go his way and shot a 75....

Stenson was going well before three boggys in his final four holes

Toms had a nightmare back nine and dropped 5 shots to be out of contention...

Luckily four of the selections have been laid off at much shorter prices in running....

Poulter (4.85)

Stenson (3.68)

Toms (11.32)

POULTER -6 (tied 2nd)

STENSON -6 (tied 2nd)

Default We do it again........

Last year Talk sports gave you the winner when Sergio Garcia won a playoff at 40/1......

This year we go one better.......

Five selections were posted and we got......FIRST and SECOND.....

HENDRIK STENSON (advised at 50/1) put in a faultless round of 65 to WIN by four shots and land back to back victories for the forum in this event....

Not only did we again find the winner we also found the runner up....IAN POULTER (advised at 80/1) who played some superb stuff....a 20/1 winner for the E/W backers........

Not to shabby to get the forecast from a field of over 120 players and lets hope we can strike again big in one of the other majors this year....

Anyway i hope some of you followed the selections and are picking up some cash tomorrow.......
