Wink Tonight with Amir

Amir Khan stop Diaz
By: Derek BiltonLast (SpLife)
tipster Derek Bilton fancies Amir Khan for a stoppage win this weekend, while Martin Murray can score a big upset in Argentina.

Amir Khan (l) and Julio Diaz both need victory to boost their career
Amir Khan, at the age of 26, puts it all on the line this weekend when he boxes Julio Diaz in a fight that will define two careers.

Khan, the mad-hands from Bolton, the ex-darling of HBO, tries to rebuild and reinvent himself by going in with Diaz, a once-proud boxer who is rolling the wrong way down 'has-been hill'.

Khan is box-office in America as much for his indifferent whiskers as he is for his exciting fighting style.

A natural speedster, Khan loves a tear-up and wears his heart on his sleeve when he boxes. Three losses (two stoppages) tells its own story but the man can fight as they don't give Olympic silver medals out for nothing.

Diaz, a warrior in his prime, is made-for-TV this weekend and everything the fight game doesn't like.

Give me Khan, under fire, nailing the stoppage with a barrage of educated leather in round eight. That's a 12/1 shot but I'll also have a saver on the 'street' of rounds seven to nine.

There's plenty of boxing taking place around the world this weekend but nobody has it tougher than Martin Murray.

The Merseyside warrior goes in with Sergio Martinez, in the lion's den, in Buenos Aires. The Argentine might be the most skilled fighter I have ever seen in the flesh, but that was many years ago and Murray can do a John H Stracey and batter this Latino into submission inside the distance.

Murray served time for indiscretions but has since dedicated his life to the noble art and will not be fazed here.

He remains unbeaten and was unlucky not to be given the verdict in his previous world-title challenge against Felix Sturm in 2011 when the judges made it a controversial draw.

Murray is a huge outsider but is clever enough and game enough to win the titles in South America. It's worth a shot at a big price of 9/1.
