Default Something for the weekend Sir !

By: Matt Briggs (SL) Looks for the early value from next weekend's football coupon with Aston Villa standing out at 3/1 to beat Liverpool.

Aston Villa face a horrible start to the season, but buoyed by three points from The Emirates on Saturday they won't be fearing Chelsea and Liverpool - their next two opponents.

A debut goal from Antonio Luna wrapped up a 3-1 away win at Arsenal and on that result alone their warrant respect in their first home game of the season against Liverpool. The bookies however, have chalked up the visitors as odds-on favourites and have Villa as 3/1 outsiders on their own patch.

Brendan Rodgers' men opened up with a 1-0 over Stoke and at times their free-flowing passing game ripped the Potters to pieces. But Stoke, who were second best for much of the game, stuck in there and rattled the woodwork and missed a penalty on the way to defeat at Anfield.

It's no surprise to see Rodgers' men as the favourites at Villa Park, even without Luis Suarez, but it's madness to support them at odds-on away from home.

Villa are more than capable of causing the Reds problems and although they might be better suited playing on the break away from Villa Park they could adopt that style against the bigger teams at home.

Liverpool might well dominate possession and midfield territory, but Villa's mobile front three of Christian Benteke, Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann are always dangerous. In fact, I believe keeping Benteke is the best piece of transfer business this summer, because the Belgian striker is a class act heading for the top and his pace and power could cause Daniel Agger and Kolo Toure serious problems.

It's certainly tempting to have a few quid on the Villans at 3/1, but because it's so early in the season I'm going to be cautious and tip Paul Lambert's men draw no bet at 2/1.

Sky Bet League 1

The Championship gave me nightmares last season and I'm going to swerve it for now until there's more form to go, but in League One Peterborough have a 100 per cent record and they look full of goals. A forward line of Lee Tomlin, Tyrone Barnett and Britt Assombalonga looks as good as any other in the division and they should have too much firepower for struggling Tranmere.

Ronnie Moore's men have a solitary point for their first three games and have conceded eight goals and are sure to struggle to keep Posh's attacking trio in check.

At 5/4 Peterborough look a solid away chance, and don't be surprised if the visitors shorten up in the week as the punters search for 'good things' for their weekend accas.

Sky Bet League 2

It's still only very early doors with three games played in League Two and a price of 17/4 has got to be worth an interest.

Wycombe's three games to date have all ended 1-0 with a victory and two defeats with their weekend reverse against Mansfield was described by boss Gareth Ainsworth as the worst for 12 months. With that in mind it might seem strange supporting them to win at table-topping Oxford, but Ainsworth is sure to get a reaction and the quality in both squads looks very similar. Oxford finished just five points ahead of Wycombe last term and the 17/4 about a Chairboys victory is far too big and worth getting stuck into.
