Hoffman is Greyhound of the Year for 2015



SWIFT HOFFMAN was the toast of the GBGB Awards at the Lancaster London on Sunday as the Pat Rosney-trained, Paul Scott-owned racer was named Greyhound of the Year for 2015.

The RPGTV Scottish Derby, Betfred Select Stakes and Ladbrokes Gold Cup champion saw off the challenges of Millwards Teddy and Derby champion Rio Quattro to add his name to an illustrious roll of honour.

The September 2012 son of Makeshift and Swift Erin completed a fantastic evening not just for Rosney and Scott, but also breeder Ian Greaves, who was responsible for the overall winner in Swift Hoffman and also the GBGB Bitch of the Year in the shape of his litter-sister Domino Storm.

Trained by Mark Wallis for Kieron King, Domino Storm won the ECC Timber Oaks at Belle Vue and edged her sister You Never Listen and Forest Twilight in this category. Wallis later collected his seventh Ladbrokes Trainer of the Year title.

Swift Hoffman saw off Rio Quattro and Do It For Twiggy in the William Hill Standard Distance Performer of the Year voting, which was key in him winning the overall title - the Greyhound of the Year must come from the Standard, Sprinter, Stayer, Marathon and Hurdler categories.

Millwards Teddy scored an emotional success in the RPGTV Stayer of the Year voting as he went one better than 2014 in beating St Leger champion Fizzypop Buddy and Regency hero Touch Tackle for John White and the family of the late Mitch Millward.

There was also a special lifetime recognition award made to Harry Crapper.
