Default Wednesdays FA Cup round-up

FA Cup round-up:
Chelsea on a wing and a prayer and Wigan defeat Bournemouth (January 17 2018)

A review of Wednesday's FA Cup third-round replays.

FA Cup results

Chelsea 1-1 Norwich (AET, Chelsea win 5-3 on pens) (lucky boys)
Swansea 2-1 Wolves
Wigan 3-0 Bournemouth

Chelsea beat Norwich 5-3 on penalties after a gruelling FA Cup third-round replay at Stamford Bridge.

The game ended 1-1 after the Championship side cancelled out Michy Batshuayi's 55th-minute opener in the final seconds of normal time through Jamal Lewis, but after an eventful added 30 minutes, which produced red cards for both Pedro and Alvaro Morata for the hosts, the Blues prevailed after Eden Hazard's converted spot-kick.

Antonio Conte's side go through to face fellow Premier League team Newcastle back at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round on January 28.

Sky Bet League One leaders Wigan stunned Bournemouth of the Premier League with a thumping 3-0 win in the FA Cup third round.

The Latics secured a fourth-round home tie against West Ham thanks to goals from Sam Morsy, Dan Burn and Callum Elder's goals below.

Both sides made changes for the replay but Bournemouth's fans were left unimpressed by their team's efforts.

Morsy tucked in a rebound from 12 yards to give the hosts the lead at half-time, and Burn and Elder struck within three second-half minutes to complete the Cherries' humiliation.

Jordan Ayew scored a goal reminiscent of Ricky Villa for Tottenham in the 1981 final replay as Swansea beat Wolves 2-1.

Ayew burst into the area, cutting one way and the other as he evaded six challenges before slotting past keeper Will Norris.

Diogo Jota equalised for Championship leaders Wolves but three minutes later Wilfried Bony won it for the Swans, who head to Notts County in round four.
