think your right there Tony early days Tyson was awesome to watch not a great deal of flair but pure aggression more a street fighter than a boxer a bit like Rocky Marciano who was devastating to watch (on tape, dvd's i aint that old )
i think he had something like 49 fights 49 wins with a 85%+ knock out rate |

Yes he did Lee, something i dont think we will ever see again. Larry holmes was the last heavyweight to come near that record...he had 46 or 47 fights unbeaten then they put him in with Micheal Spinks (who was really a light heavyweight) hoping to get the record and Spinks beat him on points which most people say was one of the biggest fixes ever, but when they fought again Spinks won it again on points and then went on to get ko by Tyson as did Larry Holmes.

Yes Lee i did watch it.......was poor really, Hopkins never made use of the advantage he had after knocking Calzaghe down.
All Hopkins seemed to be interested in was holding and hitting on the blind side and Calzaghe seemed a little gun shy after the first round.........How did i score it... Well i wouldnt have had an arguement with any decision as i thought it was that close.... The one thing i will say is that ROY JONES will ko Calzaghe if they meet, hes won the world heavyweight title (al be it against a poor champ John Ruiz) but i think he will be a little too cute and punch too hard for Calzaghe. I think they may try to avoid Jones for a while and maybe look for a re match with Hopkins or a fight with Felix Trinidad (whos also way past his best). |
