Saturday 23rd August games
WOLVES..go second with a very good victory at promotion rivals Ipswich. A goal in each half gave Wolves a fairly easy win and in this sort of form an automatic spot must be their aim. Wolves entertain Forest next weekend with The Tractor boys going to Watford for a late kick off on Sky. COVENTRY..went into their home game with Bristol City as leaders and ended the day down in 8th due to a 3-0 drubbing. Bristol City looking like they too will be challenging again this season and Coventry will be looking to put this shambolic showing behind them when they go to newly promoted Doncaster next week. FOREST..Suprised many (me included) by taking all three points at home to Watford. Forest looked good going forward and some nice crisp passing was rewarded when Earnshaw scored their second in a 3-2 classic at The City ground. Earnshaw a summer buy fron neighbours Derby is starting to look more like the Earnshaw who scored plenty in his Cardiff days. Nathen Tyson came on as sub afer being out with a hamstring injury to snatch all three points with a tap in after Earnshaws freekick has come back off the post. Forest will be fully tested next week when they visit highflying Wolves.. DERBY...another shocking performance going down 1-0 at home to a Southampton side who before this game had failed to register any points. After their spirited comeback in the second half last weekend Derby failed to build on that and they are already looking like a club in turmoil. Their decision to get rid of Earnshaw is not looing a good one as they look toothless up front. Manager Jewell will have to go to the board to buy some new players if Derby are going to get anywhere near the promotion chasing clubs..Derby travel to Barnsley next weekend and only a win will be good enough against the bottom team. BURNLEY..Bottom at the start of the day finally got their first point of the season at Palace. Maybe it was two points lost though as Palace played the last 25 mins with only nine men.Burnley look like another team that needs to find someone to put the ball in the net as they missed a bundle of chance to have this game won. Next weekend they entertain Plymouth at Turf Moor in what looks like a six pointer even at this early stage of the season. |
