Marco Silva odds-on favourite for Everton job as Sam Allardyce set for Goodison exit (May 15 2018)

Marco Silva is now the odds-on favourite to be the next Everton manager with reports that Sam Allardyce will leave Goodison within the next 24 hours.

Silva is now the big 4/11 favourite to be Everton manager at the start of next season, with Allardyce, by contrast, a huge 12/1 shot with reports of his impending departure.

Allardyce fulfilled his original brief at Everton by fending off the threat of relegation, but since then he has not managed to endear himself to the club’s fans.

The Toffees finished eighth in the table but the style of football has not pleased the Goodison Park faithful, with many calling for the former England manager to leave this summer.

Considerable investment means Everton fans have loftier ambitions and Allardyce has not been a good fit for those, and he was not helped when the infamous fan survey was circulated about how he was doing as manager.

Former Hull boss Silva was targeted during a great run of form at Watford, but when that deal fell through the Hornets noticeably fell off track – with the club saying their manager’s head had been turned.

Everton now seem to have gone back in for Silva with Sky Sports reporting Allardyce will leave the club within the next 24 hours.
