Default Man City win at Wembley

Chelsea 0-2 Manchester City: Sergio Aguero scores twice in Community Shield win (August 05 2018)

Manchester City, and Sergio Aguero in particular, looked in ominous form as they dispatched Chelsea 2-0 at Wembley to win the Community Shield.

A dominant start by the Premier League champions was rewarded with a 13th-minute opener for Aguero, who bagged his 200th goal for the club, before making it 201 to seal the first silverware of the season in the second half.

£60m man Riyad Mahrez was in a strong City line-up named by Pep Guardiola, including youngster Phil Foden - who set up Ageruo for his first goal.

A surging run down the left from Foden ended when he found Aguero who placed a low shot into the bottom corner to become the first ever player to score a double century of goals in a City shirt.

England's World Cup stars John Stones and Kyle Walker were also named in Pep Guardiola's side as Maurizio Sarri endured a tough start to life as Chelsea boss despite having new signing Jorginho in his side.

City were unable to add to that early goal as Leroy Sane's heavy touch stopped him getting a shot away after being put through, while Mahrez also suffered from poor control in a good area.

Chelsea came into the game more as the half went on, with Callum Hudson-Odoi looking increasingly dangerous, but they could not test Claudio Bravo, and City went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

It should have been 201 for Aguero in the 50th minute when he broke the offside trap, but after rounding Willy Caballero he shot into the side-netting from close range.

Foden then had a chance of his own but his shot was too weak to cause Caballero any trouble.

The Argentinian made no mistake next time he got a chance, though, as City finally extended their lead just before the hour.

A fine counter-attacking move saw John Stones snuff out a Chelsea attack before Ilkay Gundogan fed Bernardo Silva to slip in Aguero.

The striker then fired low into the bottom corner to cap off a strong start to the second half.

City could have added to their lead in the closing stages, but Gundogan saw his shot deflected wide and Guardiola's side had to settle for a 2-0 win.
