Default William Hill Grand Slam of Darts 2012

Gonna be a very interesting Grand Slam of Darts this year at Wolverhampton especially with this draw at the group stages:

GROUP A
Phil Taylor (1)
Scott Waites
Mark Webster
Co Stompe

GROUP B
Michael van Gerwen (8)
Robert Thornton
Ted Hankey
Steve Beaton

GROUP C
Simon Whitlock (5)
Kevin Painter
Dean Winstanley
James Hubbard

GROUP D
James Wade (4)
Jan Dekker
Mervyn King
Arron Monk

GROUP E
Adrian Lewis (2)
Gary Anderson
John Part
Tony O'Shea

GROUP F
Andy Hamilton (7)
Paul Nicholson
Brendan Dolan
Barrie Bates

GROUP G
Wes Newton (6)
Terry Jenkins
Wesley Harms
Martin Phillips

GROUP H
Christian Kist (3)
Raymond van Barneveld
Mark Walsh
Wayne Jones

( ) = Seeded Players

If I was to do a 8 fold group winner accy I'd plump for: Taylor, Van Gerwen, Painter, Wade, Lewis, Nicholson, Jenkins, Walsh.

For me this is going to be the most wide open Grand Slam of Darts ever and I for one cannot pick an overall winner but I shall be at Wolverhampton next Tuesday evening and looking forward to it a great deal!....

Taylors been struggling over the last few months so i think he might just be worth taking on here....

Group E looks the group of death to me...

F,G,H look fairly easy groups for the seeded player....

HAMILTON from F

NEWTON from G

BARNEY from H

Im sure you will have a really good night with plenty of these.....

Oh hell yes Tony I shall be having several beers especially as I'm staying overnight in Wolverhampton

As for my tips for the Grand Slam:

Mike Van Gerwen (12/1 on Paddy Power)
Terry Jenkins (33/1 on Paddy Power)

OUTSIDE BET: Wesley Harms (100/1 on Paddy Power)

Basically I've gone for a safe, consistent and a highly unsure bet however both my bessie mate and I have done rather well with darts bets in the past including backing Van Gerwen to win the Grand Prix in Ireland which he did and a few years back I backed Simon Whitlock e/w at 80/1 in the World Championship and he made the final so that was New year well and truly paid for lol!

He is indeed a very good poker player and correct me If I'm wrong Bazza but didn't you mention once that he played in the Ladbrokes Poker Cruise with your good self?

My bessie mate a couple of years ago won a meet and greet with Phil Taylor at Rileys in Chester along with a game of Darts and other bits and bobs with the great man himself and according to him he is a very down to earth person and great to chat to and no wonder he is a 15 time world champion!
