Default WSOP 2008 Final Table...

Meet the "November Nine"
Dennis Phillips. Craig Marquis. Ylon Schwartz. Scott Montgomery. Darus Suharto. David "Chino" Rheem. Ivan Demidov. Kelly Kim. Peter Eastgate. These nine men will make up the final table of the 2008 WSOP Main Event, which will resume play on November 9th -- about 16 weeks from now. There's still a whole lot of commotion around the stage. Stay tuned for official chip counts and information

Well finally we have the last nine players who will battle it out to become the WSOP champion for 2008.

One Laddies player Peter Eastgate remains and is in 4th position with about 19 million chips.

Very little is known about him but im led to believe hes a 20/50 cash player on Laddies and was one of their qualifiers through one of the events they ran .

Of course Laddies as usual have made a massive boob by not getting him to sign a pre tournement agreement to wear the Laddies gear so im sure there will be many sponsers looking for his signature come November 9th.

Obviously Laddies were much too busy with their favs to even think he could go deep..........

I think its pretty ridiculous that these guys have had to battle for almost a week solid to get to the final table.....then they have to wait another 4 months to play the final table out!!!

What happens if, god forbid, one of them meets with a serious accident? Or other extenuating circumstance that means they cant play?

Not to mention they are missing out on 4th months interest/access to the cash they will win!!!!!

Just losing all the momentum...half the thing about the WSOP ME is that the winner will have fought long and hard in beating the field, showing as much a test of his stamina, concentration and focus over the duration of the event as his poker playing prowess.

Cannot understand the logic into doing this "November 9".

I read a little bit about this - the principal is basically for tv rights!

The rest of the tourney over a week apparently provides so much tv that if the table had been played out.... very few apart from perhaps the hardcore poker players would follow it as they already know the outcome.

Also it allows the TV company to Hype up the final. Its a PR dream and they are got four months to parade all the players around the tourneys so by the time the FT is played they will be household names.

As for the '9' this was also (apparently) done for their benefit.

Rather than being rushed into any advertising deals and then regretting them later, they have 4 months to negotiate a very good deal.

They will apparently have been paid out prize money equal to 10th place, so they have something now

The balance will be held in an interest baring account and the interest will be spilt in the prize pool.

Hope this helps

Lee
