Default Harry thinks Ravel's a Star

West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison would already be a "superstar" if he was playing abroad and should consider a move to Italy or Spain, according to QPR boss Harry Redknapp.

Morrison spent three months under Redknapp at QPR last season, helping Rangers secure promotion from the Championship with six goals in 15 appearances.

The 21-year-old joined Cardiff on Tuesday for his third loan spell away from the Hammers with Sam Allardyce suggesting the midfielder's chances are running out in East London.

Morrison is currently on bail on assault charges until the new year and has played just 33 minutes in the Barclays Premier League this season.

"I like Ravel, he's a fantastic talent and it will be a great shame if he doesn't make it," Redknapp said.

"He went back to West Ham (in the summer) and they looked elsewhere - I would have liked to have had him back here, I liked him, I have a lot of time for him.

"He wasn't a minute's problem for me here and as a player, he has great ability.

"He glides over the field, he can score goals and he's a talent - if he was somewhere else in the world he would probably be a superstar.

"Maybe in this country it hasn't worked out for him - I'd love to see him go to Spain or Italy or somewhere.

"He'll be a great signing at Cardiff - I'm sure the fans will love him, he's a great talent."

QPR could perhaps do with some of Morrison's creativity and attacking flair having only scored three goals in their opening five Barclays Premier League matches and none away from home.

Rangers will be hoping to improve that tally on Saturday when they travel to Southampton, who have enjoyed an impressive start under new boss Ronald Koeman.

Redknapp is expecting a hostile reception after he moved to St Mary's from Portsmouth in December 2004 but failed to rescue the club from relegation and returned to Pompey just 12 months later.

"I won't be losing any sleep on Saturday night over it - they hate Portsmouth and Portsmouth was my club on the South Coast apart from Bournemouth so I expect it," Redknapp said.

"Do I regret going to Southampton? Yes at the time it was difficult.

"I didn't realise how much the fans disliked each other until I went there.

"They were good to me at Southampton - the fans were excellent, I didn't have a problem when I was there but I went there well into the season and it was tough."

He added: "I won't take any extra satisfaction from a win, I don't think like that.

"It's just about the team - the only thing that matters is trying to get a win on Saturday."
