Zidane odds-on for Real role
![]() Zinedine Zidane is 1/33 favourite with Sky Bet to be the next Real Madrid amid reports that Rafa Benitez will be sacked. The club legend, who played for Los Merengues between 2001 and 2006, winning the Champions League in his first season with the team, has been back at the Bernabeu since 2010 - firstly as a special adviser to the first team in response to an appeal made by then-head coach Jose Mourinho. The France legend has looked to be working his way up the top job at the Bernabeu, progressing from assistant manager of the first team to the head coach of the B-team, Real Madrid Castilla. He does, however, lack any top-level experience, having only been granted his UEFA Pro Licence badge last season, having served a three-month ban from the Spanish FA for coaching's Real's reserve side before gaining the necessary qualification. Sky Bet make Zidane a 1/33 chance to take the job. The former Liverpool, Chelsea and Napoli boss only joined the Spanish giants in June on a three-year-contract, but his pragmatic approach has not matched the demands of the Real Madrid fans and he has looked to be fighting a losing battle ever since a humiliating 4-0 home defeat to arch-rivals Barcelona in November. Second in the betting at 12/1 is Mourinho, axed last month from the Chelsea job after a dreadful first half to their Barclays Premier League title defence. It's 33/1 bar the top two, with a whole host of managers available at that price, including Fabio Capello, current Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini and Alejandro Sabella, the former Argentina manager.
