Talking Chelsea get Hammered (Wednesday Review)

United win derby; Chelsea get 'Hammered' . (October 26 2016)

A review of Wednesday night's action in the EFL Cup as United won the Manchester derby and West Ham beat Chelsea.

Juan Mata scored the only goal of the Manchester derby as United defeated City 1-0 at Old Trafford to reach the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

Clashes between rival supporters marred West Ham's fourth-round win over Chelsea at the former Olympic Stadium.

Skirmishes broke out towards the end of the Hammers' impressive 2-1 fourth-round win as police and stewards battled to maintain segregation behind the goal being defended by West Ham.

This derby was billed as the biggest footballing test for the London Stadium so far, on a night when basketball and track cycling competitions were also taking place on the former Olympic Park.

The capacity is capped at 57,000 and 45,957 were in attendance, along with a heavy police presence.

Chelsea sold out their allocation of 5,182 tickets and, with the Hammers 2-0 up, trouble broke out.

Sofiane Boufal marked his St Mary's debut with a stunning strike to fire Southampton into the quarter-finals.

The club's record signing, whose introduction to English football has been delayed by injury, curled in sensational effort to sink Sunderland 1-0.

It was just a shame that so few were there to see it, with Saints' ground half empty and an entire stand shut for the fourth-round tie.

The stay-aways looked to have made the right decision, however, as an hour desperately short on quality ticked painfully by.

But in the 66th minute Boufal, the £21million summer signing from Lille, scored a fabulous winner to pile on the misery for Sunderland.

FA to investigate cup violence (October 27 2016)

The Football Association has launched an investigation into the violence which marred West Ham's EFL Cup derby win over Chelsea at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.

Police made seven arrests after skirmishes broke out towards the end of the Hammers' impressive 2-1 fourth-round win as police and stewards battled to maintain segregation behind the goal being defended by West Ham.

Coins, seats and other objects appeared to be thrown between rival supporters, with the Hammers and Chelsea condemning the unsavoury scenes which are now under investigation by the FA.

The Metropolitan Police announced seven arrests had been made.

Antisocial behaviour legislation was utilised prior to the match to order 30 people to disperse.

I doubt it will be long before the tax payer gets the Olympic Stadium back.

West Ham are in there for nothing and will STILL not police the ground and the surrounding areas on match day.

Its a disgrace not only to their real fans but visiting ones too.

The board in my opinion has no regard for their fans and has sold them out for a cheap home whilst getting millions for Upton Pk

Last night was just another cock up and you cant blame the fixture as there had been trouble at both Watford and Middlesboro games to.

I can see them being homeless by Christmas if something is not sorted soon..

Bunch of w*nkers the whole lot of them. Chucking seats and fighting in gangs that target one or two fans on their own. About as hard as 10 yr old schoolkids.

From what i saw ....it was a bit of pushing stewards and not a lot else in the ground.

Although what i saw outside after the Watford and Boro games was a lot worse.

Football "hooligans" in general. If they called them spoilt brat football watchers their ego's might be deflated.
