A review of Sunday's FA Cup action so far as a much-changed Liverpool were held to a goalless draw against


Plymouth upset the odds as the youngest team in Liverpool's history were held to a goalless draw in the FA Cup third round.

Derek Adams' side may be second in Sky Bet League Two but few expected them to snatch a positive result at Anfield.

However, Jurgen Klopp's callow side, containing five academy graduates, came up against a green wall as Plymouth frustrated the hosts and eked out a 0-0 draw.

The replay at Home Park is something Liverpool could do without in a tough month that continues on Wednesday with the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at Southampton.

Chelsea won 4-1 at home to Peterborough, racing into a three-goal lead through Pedro, Michy Batshuayi and Willian before captain John Terry, making his first start since the EFL Cup exit at West Ham in October, was sent off.

Tom Nichols pulled a goal back for the League One visitors, but Pedro struck his second as Chelsea responded to their 13-game winning run ending with defeat at Tottenham last Wednesday.

Spurs also progressed to the fourth round thanks to a 2-0 win against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane.

Ben Davies headed home his first Tottenham goal to give Mauricio Pochettino's side a lead that Son Heung-min added to with 10 minutes left.

Skipper Grant Leadbitter struck for the second time in three games as 10-man Middlesbrough eased past Sheffield Wednesday 3-0.

Leadbitter's 58th-minute free-kick finally ignited a previously dull encounter, although Boro defender Daniel Ayala was controversially dismissed for a professional foul on Fernando Forestieri within seconds to give Wednesday hope.

However, the Premier League side sealed victory seven minutes later in bizarre fashion when Alvaro Negredo blocked Owls keeper Joe Wildsmith's attempted clearance and saw the ball ricochet into the net, before Marten de Roon added a third at the death.

The day started with Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon becoming one of the youngest goalscorers in FA Cup history as Cardiff were overcome 2-1 in an 11.30am kick-off.

The 16-year-old tapped home from close range as Fulham came from behind to win, with Stefan Johansen having cancelled out Anthony Pilkington's deflected free-kick.
