A round-up of Saturday's action in the Premier League as Harry Kane scored his first career goal during the month of August.

Saturday's Premier League review

Marcos Alonso netted an 81st-minute winner as Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were 2-0 up in the 20th minute after strikes from Pedro and Alvaro Morata, which came either side of Gunners striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missing an open goal.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, having been guilty of a poor miss himself, subsequently reduced the deficit in the 37th minute and Alex Iwobi equalised four minutes later.

Alonso then slotted home from substitute Eden Hazard's assist as Chelsea made it two wins from two Premier League matches under their new boss Maurizio Sarri.

For opposite number Unai Emery, meanwhile, it is a second defeat after the 2-0 loss to Manchester City last week in his first competitive game as Arsenal boss.

Also on six points from two games are Tottenham after they beat Fulham 3-1 at Wembley, with Harry Kane scoring his first Premier League goal in August.

England captain Kane had seen an early effort ruled out before Spurs did take the lead two minutes before half-time through a curling effort from Brazil forward Lucas Moura.

Fulham, back at Wembley following their triumph in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final last season, equalised in the 52nd minute with a close-range header from Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Kane saw his shot come back off the crossbar before England team-mate Kieran Trippier curled in a brilliant 25-yard free-kick after 74 minutes.

The 14-game August hoodoo was finally broken three minutes later when Kane slotted in after being set up following a breakaway by substitute Erik Lamela.

England forward Jamie Vardy was shown a straight red card as 10-man Leicester held out to beat Wolves 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes broke the deadlock after 29 minutes through an own goal from Wolves defender Matt Doherty.

Just before half-time, midfielder James Maddison, a summer signing from Norwich, drilled in a low 20-yard shot to double Leicester's advantage.

Vardy saw red in the 66th minute after launching himself into a late challenge on Doherty, which was swiftly dealt with by referee Mike Dean.

Wolves, who drew 2-2 with Everton in their first game back in the top flight, rallied as Jonny Castro's effort hit the outside of the post, but could not find an equaliser.

Bournemouth are a third side with six points after coming from behind to win 2-1 at West Ham.

The Irons, thrashed 4-0 at Liverpool in their opening match, went ahead after 33 minutes through a Marko Arnautovic penalty.

Bournemouth, who beat Cardiff last weekend, were level on the hour through a fine individual effort from forward Callum Wilson and the turnaround was completed six minutes later when defender Steve Cook headed in at the back post following a free-kick.

Everton got their first win under new boss Marco Silva after beating Southampton 2-1 at Goodison Park.

Theo Walcott opened the scoring against his boyhood club after 15 minutes following a well-worked free-kick.

The Toffees doubled their lead after 32 minutes when Richarlison powered in a header for the big-money summer signing's third goal of the campaign.

Southampton reduced the deficit after 54 minutes when Danny Ings, signed from Liverpool ahead of the transfer deadline, turned the ball in following a corner - but Everton held on.

In Saturday's lunchtime kick-off, Neil Etheridge saved a stoppage-time penalty from Kenedy to prevent 10-man Newcastle from snatching a dramatic late win at Cardiff as an eventful contest finished goalless.

The visitors had played the final half-hour with a man less following a straight red card for substitute Isaac Hayden after his tackle from behind on Cardiff winger Josh Murphy.

Despite that, Newcastle could have secured all three points in the fifth minute of added time after a handball in the area by Cardiff captain Sean Morrison.

However, Brazilian Kenedy failed to beat Etheridge as the Philippines keeper produced a fine penalty save for the second successive game.
