One of the greatest managers ever..

I remember watching his Ipswich team in the 70's and 80's.

When he went through a sticky patch at Ipswich my Dad who was an avid Ipswich supporter and a season ticket holder wrote to him to remind him that he had taken Ipswich to the top and only the very best could have done that on the budget he had.

Sir Bobby wrote back and they met up in the Portman restaurant on a Wednesday dinner time where Sir Bobby chatted to my dad over lunch and took on board what my dad had to say.

They kept in touch for quite a few years after that and i had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife on a few occasions and both were as down to earth as you will get.

Not many managers are remembered by a host of clubs as being their number one choice manager but Sir Bobby was all over Europe.

When you mention the very best like Bill Shankley, Brian Clough and Jock Stien then you have to mention Sir Bobby Robson.....
