As Jimmy Hendrix once sang,
"Hey Joe where are you going with that gun in your hand" ? Joe's reply would have been, "To clean up that toon, and get that bad guy Pardew out of toon" ![]() Newcastle should have given their shiny, newly-created director of football role to the fan who boxed a police horse in broad daylight after the 3-0 defeat to local foes Sunderland in April. That would have been slightly more bizarre than handing over the keys to Joe Kinnear, a figure largely discredited in Geordieland after his previous failed attempt at the manager's job. Only slightly mind. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is nothing if not unpredictable. It is his toy, and he will do what he wants with it. That is hardly good news for Alan Pardew's long-term health in the manager's post when a coach with ticker trouble is considered a sounder judge of transfer policy than the bloke picking the team. In football, like life, it is never what is said that is more telling, but what is not said. ![]() Bennys view, > Get 'taylormade in the job' !! ![]()

Im retired from all this shyte, will rekindle the fire when Ashley departs and we have local lads playing for our team. The whole English setup is rubbish, from the national team to the premiership and I wont be taking much interest in it for the foreseeable future. RIP football.

So today Newcastle are expected to belatedly confirm Joe Kinnear as their new director of football but last night his rant on talkSPORT will have further alienated the club's supporters.
He said: 'I heard a silly comment of 'what can I attract?' I can open the door to any manager in the world, anyone, that's the difference. I've spent my whole life talking to Alex Ferguson, week in, week out, what would you do? I can pick the phone up at any time of the day and speak to Arsene Wenger, any manager in the league. In all the divisions. I don't know what angle they've got, if they want to sit down and argue with me... Some are talking out of their backsides, a load of tosh. I'm not accepting it, as simple as that. I have certainly got more intelligence than them, that's a fact.' ![]() I'm sure many Newcastle fans wouldn't agree but I'm quite glad he's back, if only to add some comedy value to a game which has become so serious and mundane at times. ![]() .. Oyi Oyi Joe, you tell em son, 'ave it' !! ![]()

Kinnear targets Euro return
Newcastle director of football Joe Kinnear ![]() believes a return to Champions League football is a realistic long-term ambition for the club. ![]() United narrowly missed out on relegation from the Premier League last season but former manager Kinnear, who took up his new role last month, believes they must remain ambitious. "I have worked at the club before and I know what Newcastle means to the fans," Kinnear told the Sunday Mirror. "Last season was a disappointing one but the simple truth was that the squad just wasn't strong enough. "The Europa League also took its toll because of injuries and that was felt in the league. "My job is simple - to bring in quality players who will give the manager more options. "What I see in the long term is help to put together a squad to get this club back into the Champions League." Kinnear, who was manager of Newcastle three-and-a-half years ago, feels they have the basis of a strong squad but admits they may need to move into the transfer market if they are to progress further. "We have some talented young players at Newcastle and if there was one benefit from the Europa League, it was that Alan was able to give valuable first-team experience to those players," added Kinnear. "Like Moussa Sissoko, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye, all excellent. And we have Sammy Ameobi, Shola's brother. "I have spoken with Fabricio Coloccini and I am confident he is staying and Steven Taylor - well, he is a rock. "We just need to bring in more talent." .. update btd (Bennys view) ..I'm saying nothing ![]() ![]()
